No. 16 McKendree University women's soccer fired away in its non-conference matchup on Tuesday night, beating Kentucky Wesleyan, 5-0, on home turf at Leemon Field. Junior forward Anna Stiffler scored the game-winner, which began a flurry of goals from the Bearcats, in the 20th minute of play. She marked one of four Bearcats to fire a score on the night, leading with two while junior forward Destiny Johnson, senior midfielder Allison Frederking, and freshman forward Abigail Simon all collected one goal.
McKendree put up a showing on the attacking side of the ball, firing 17 shots in the first half with eight on-frame and three scores. The Bearcats had ample opportunities prior to the first goal but Stiffler finally broke the ice with her score in the 20th minute. The goal came from a long pass by freshman defender Lea Siemes, who collected her first collegiate point and assist during the win. It also marked Stiffler's second score of the campaign.
The Bearcats didn't stop with just one score in the first 45 minutes of action but fired-off two more prior to halftime, taking a 3-0 lead. The second goal came from Frederking in the 29th via a dish-out from freshman defender Elma Oijens Sjoelin and Johnson. The goal marked Frederking's first of the year while Oijens Sjoelin marked her first collegiate point and assist. Then in the 38th, the freshman Simon scored the third of the half and her first collegiate goal off a rebound from freshman forward Karin Tebelius. Tebelius earned her first collegiate assist in the game.
McKendree played out the second half in a similar way to the first 45, controlling the ball and pacing of the matchup with KWC. The Bearcats continued their offensive showing with a second score by the forward Stiffler (3) in the 49th minute off an assist by freshman midfielder Rosa Caird, her first collegiate assist. Following the first goal of the second half, Johnson fired her second goal of the campaign, closing out the scoring for McKendree in the 51st minute of the outing. Johnson was assisted by senior midfielder Elizabeth Goldstein, her first point and assist of the year.
McKendree dominated the ball from start to finish with 28 total shots and 12 on frame. The Bearcats earned 10 corner kicks while only allowing one shot and five corners from the visiting Panthers.

The Bearcats won their seventh consecutive home opener on September 3, beating Trevecca Nazarene, 1-0, with a score in the 89th minute.
