The men's track and field season concluded on Saturday morning when Dylan Goodyear placed ninth in the 3000 meter steeplechase at the NCAA Division III national championships contested at the Spire Institute.
Despite setting a new school record time of 9:06.77, Goodyear was unable to hold off a late push by Washington University's Jeff Candell who collected the final All-American position of eighth place in the highly competitive race.
Goodyear fluctuated between seventh and eighth for the majority of the eight laps before settling for ninth place on the final push.
Over the season, Goodyear steadily chipped away at improvement of his 2018 school record of 9:17.83, eventually taking over 11 seconds off the record time.
The men's track and field team concluded the 2022 season as SLIAC champions, third place winners at the NCCAA national championships, and producer of four NCAA Division III national championship participants.
