Analysis: New Simpson Hill administrators rank 798th in state for average pay

Administrators in New Simpson Hill School District 32 earn an average of $75,792 per year, ranking 798th out of 864 districts in Illinois, according to a Southern Illinois News analysis of the latest Illinois schools report card.

The 2020 average is 10.5 percent higher than in 2016 and 3 percent lower than in 2011. District administrators make 31.9 percent less than the state average of $111,293.

Administrator salaries depend on the district's size, location and resources, as well as the individual's level of experience and education, according to the Illinois State Board of Education report.

The New Simpson Hill School District in Johnson County enrolled 250 students in 2019-2020. There is an average of 125 students for every administrator, compared to a statewide ratio of 171 to 1.
