Report: Egyptian School District spent $11,638 per student in 2019-20

Spending per pupil at Egyptian Community Unit School District 5 was up 17.9 percent from five years ago, according to the Southern Illinois News analysis of the latest Illinois schools report card district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2019-20 report card showed the Alexander County school district spent $9,873 per pupil in 2015-16. It spent $11,638 in 2019-20.

The district's enrollment fell from 498 to 387 students over the same period.

Egyptian's spending in 2019-20 was 19.7 percent lower than the state average of $14,492.
