President Norton called the regular meeting of the Board of Education of Alden-Hebron Community Consolidated Unit School District #19 to order at 7:01 P.M.

Public Comments:
On behalf of the Village of Hebron, Mrs. Peterson announced that Josh Stevens was appointed as a Trustee for the Village. Also, the Village will be having a “Fall Fest” in the park on 9/25/2021 from 10:00am until 4:00pm.

Mrs. Elswick commented that it was a great first day of school.

BUSINESS
ADMINISTRATION
Eric Slocum-ES Principal – as presented
Mr. Slocum stated that the first Elementary School Parent Night has been scheduled for Thursday, 9/23/2021 from 5:00 to 6:3opm. It will be a Trivia Night for ES parents and kids.
Mr. Tim Hayunga-MS/HS Principal – as presented
Mr. Hayunga stated that it felt great to be back in session today. It was a busy day, but it went very well. Students in the MS/HS building will not be using hall lockers in an effort to control the spread of Covid. They will re-evaluate the threat of the spread periodically to determine when they will be able to go back to using the lockers.
Mr. Hayunga also reminded those present that on Friday, 8/20, there will be a Benching for Bucks fundraiser, the Annual District 19 Corn Roast, and the night will finish off with the Green and White games.
Tiffany Elswick-Superintendent – as presented
Mrs. Elswick added that District 19 is grateful to the community for their support and to District parents for advocating for their children.
VILLAGE
Mrs. Smith was unable to attend Village meeting on 7/26.
TOWNSHIPS
Mrs. Johnson attended the Hebron Township meeting. The following items were discussed:
• Township roadwork
• Cemetery clean-up
• Assessing properties/homes
Mr. Madsen attended the Alden Township meeting. Discussion included:
• New township signs
• Payment of township bills
FINANCE
Mrs. Syens presented the summary for the tentative FY22 budget and explained in detail the effect that the pandemic has had on the budget. She reminded all about the fact that the tentative budget is on display for inspection in the district office and that the Budget hearing will be held at the beginning of the BOE meeting on Wednesday, September 15. Mrs. Johnson requested that Mrs. Syens further break down the Teacher benefits so that it is easier to understand. Mrs. Syens agreed to do so.

PHYSICAL STRUCTURES/MAINTENANCE
Mr. Redden thanked his crew for the hard work they did to get the buildings and grounds ready for the beginning of the school year.
SPECIAL EDUCATION
Mrs. Beck stated that the B-3 Parent Educators will have tables and activities at the corn roast on Friday. She mentioned that there were a lot of families at the Back-to-School night. Also, she shared that there are currently 45 students registered for Pre-K and 2/3 of the students are new.
FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS
• Mr. Eskridge: Discussion regarding land lease funds
COMMUNICATIONS
Public Comments:
• Pat Peterson stated that the Village of Hebron will be repaving Bigelow Avenue to the edge of the village. 900 feet will be paved.
• Patricia Elswick stated that the AH Booster Club is organizing a golf outing to be held on September 19th; contact herself, Kelly Vole, or Julie Cunningham to register to play.

Board Comments
• Mrs. Johnson stated that we have come so far with quarantining and with the re-opening plan.
• Mrs. Smith stated that it was great to see the smiling faces of the students back at school on the District’s social media platforms.
• Mr. Norton added thanks to the Administration, Teachers, and Staff for the prep work for the beginning of the school year.
Mr. Eskridge moved; Mr. Winkelman seconded to go into Executive Session at 8:00pm for the appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of specific employees; matters relating to individual students.
Adjournment
Mr. Winkelman moved, Mrs. Smith seconded to adjourn the meeting at 8:40pm. Motion Carried.
