Massac County Unit School District No. 1 Board of Education met Aug. 10.

At 4:30 PM with a motion from Rushing and a second from Brugger the Board voted to go to Closed Session to consider information relative to employment, appointment, or dismissal of specific employees or officers, collective negotiating matters between employers and their employees or representatives; to discuss litigation – probable, imminent, pending or filed. Roll call: Brugger, Koch, Larrison, Rushing and Steele voted yes. Motion carried.
Board returned to open session at 5:25 PM.
Public comments: Mr. Hayes, Superintendent, reported on the Governor’s Executive Order on the Current Mask Mandate. ISBE has stated they will remove public school recognition status for districts that do not follow current mask mandate, also state funding will be impacted. This runs through August 21, 2021.
Several parents also commented on the mask mandate.
New Business:
With a motion by Koch and a second by Rushing the Board voted to Approve the Revised 2021/2022 Return to School Plan. Roll call: Koch, Larrison, Rushing and Steele voted yes. Brugger voted no. Motion carried 4 to 1.
With a motion by Koch and a second by Rushing the Board voted to Approve the Resignation of Calvin Morse, MJHS Special Education Aide. Roll call: Brugger, Koch, Larrison, Rushing and Steele voted yes. Motion carried.
With a motion by Rushing and a second by Koch the Board voted to Approve the Hire of Shelby Glidden, MES Teacher Aide. Roll call: Brugger, Koch, Larrison, Rushing and Steele voted yes. Motion carried.
With a motion by Rushing and a second by Brugger the Board voted to Approve the Hire of Lucas Raye, MES Teacher Aide. Roll call: Brugger, Koch, Larrison, Rushing and Steele voted yes. Motion carried.
With a motion by Rushing and a second by Brugger the Board voted to Approve the Hire of Dan Mings, Franklin/Jefferson PE Teacher and MCHS Assistant Football Coach. Roll call: Brugger, Koch, Larrison, Rushing and Steele voted yes. Motion carried.
With a motion by Brugger and a second by Koch the Board voted to Approve the Hire of Coleton Jeralds, MCHS Assistant Football Coach. Roll call: Brugger, Koch, Larrison, Rushing and Steele voted yes. Motion carried.
With a motion by Rushing and a second by Brugger the Board voted to Approve the Hire of Jessica Lewis, Franklin Secretary. Roll call: Brugger, Koch, Rushing and Steele voted yes. Larrison abstained. Motion carried.
With a motion by Rushing and a second by Koch the Board voted to Approve the Hire of Winter Hall, MJHS Teacher Aide and Cheer Sponsor. Roll call: Brugger, Koch, Larrison, Rushing and Steele voted yes. Motion carried.
With a motion by Rushing and a second by Brugger the Board voted to Approve the Contractual Part-Time position with Les Ingram, MJHS Special Education, until a replacement is found. Roll call: Brugger, Koch, Larrison, Rushing and Steele voted yes. Motion carried.
With a motion by Rushing and a second by Koch the Board voted to Approve the Contractual Part Time position with Sue Bremer, MCHS Math, until a replacement is found. Roll call: Brugger, Koch, Larrison, Rushing and Steele voted yes. Motion carried.
Acknowledged the transfer of Jeremy Holley to ROE Alternative Classroom.
At 5:45 PM with a motion from Brugger and a second from Rushing the Board voted to adjourn. Roll call: Brugger, Koch, Larrison, Rushing and Steele voted yes. Motion carried.
