Pope County Community Unit School District 1 Board of Education met July 27.
Here are the minutes provided by the board:
Meeting was called to order at 7:00 pm by Acting President Wallace and the following members were present in person: Walker, Wallace, Simmons; via Zoom: Hogg. Kizziar. Aly, and Schuchardt were absent.
Motion was made by Simmons and seconded by Walker to approve the agenda. Roll call vote: all ayes.
Motion to enter closed session for the purpose of personnel employment was made by Walker and seconded by Simmons. Roll call vote: all ayes. Board entered closed session at 7:01 pm.
Member Aly entered the meeting at 7:03 pm.
Member Kizziar entered the meeting at 7:09 pm.
Member Aly existed the meeting at 8:15 pm.
Motion to return from closed session was made by Walker and seconded by Simmons. Roll call vote: all ayes. Board returned at 8:36 pm.
Motion to hire Chris Ditterline for High School Science Teacher was made by Hogg and seconded by Simmons. Roll Call vote: all ayes.
Motion to hire Sheyann Broadway as Elementary Special Education Teacher pending proper certification was made by Simmons and seconded by Walker. Roll call vote: all ayes.
Motion to hire Krysta Graves as High School Pep Club sponsor was made by Simmons and seconded by Walker. Roll call vote: all ayes.
Motion to hire Robbie Reeder as FBLA sponsor was made by Simmons and seconded by Walker. Roll call vote: all ayes.
Motion to hire Jacob Lane as E-Sports sponsor was made by Walker and seconded by Simmons. Roll call vote: all ayes.
Motion to hire Sherry Black as Jr. High Scholar Bowl Sponsor was made by Simmons and seconded by Walker. Roll call vote: all ayes.
Mr. Fritch stated the 2021-2022 SY Return to School Plan was included in the board packet. He stated the CDC, as of today, recommends that all students K 12 grades, staff, and teachers, vaccinated and unvaccinated wear masks indoors. He distributed the Return to School Plan, touched on key points in the plan, and stated all measures that were taken last school year will continue as far as cleaning and fogging classrooms and buses. He also distributed a list showing which schools are making mask wearing mandated and optional. Only two schools are mandating mask wearing. As of today, there is no guidance on indoor sports. Hogg stated he is glad we are able to start this school year somewhat normal. A motion to approve Resolution for District Return to School Plan 2021-2022 SY was made by Walker and seconded by Simmons. Roll call vote: all ayes.
With no further business to be discussed, a motion was made by Simmons and seconded by Walker to adjourn the meeting until the next regular meeting to be held on Thursday, August 19, 2021 at 7:00 pm in the J.H. Hobbs Memorial Library. All members present voted aye.
