Anna-Jonesboro High School issued the following announcement on Aug. 12
On July 19, 2021, the A-JCHS Board of Education approved a Return to School Plan that recommended, but did not require, wearing masks indoors. On August 4, 2021, Governor Pritzker enacted Executive Order Number 18, which requires that all teachers, staff, students, and visitors to P-12 schools who are two years of age or older and medically able to tolerate a mask, regardless of vaccination status, to wear a mask while indoors. The Illinois State Board of Education subsequently adopted mandatory masks while indoors as part of its updated policy.
As we begin the new school year, it is our intention to do so as traditionally “normal” as we are allowed. A-JCHS will have a full, in-person schedule, with lunch at school and students on our campus Monday through Friday. Teachers will be encouraged to socially distance to the greatest extent possible, and we will continue to encourage appropriate hygiene and to be diligent in our efforts to maintain a clean learning environment.
Aside from these recommendations, mandatory masks for all faculty, staff, administration, students, and visitors who are indoors will be the only noticeable procedural change from our more traditional school years.
As we’ve learned throughout this pandemic, plans are always subject to change, and we will continue to monitor guidance from the Governor, the ISBE, and the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) to make sure we are continuing to protect the health and safety or our students and staff while also working conscientiously to assure our students and their families that they are receiving a quality education.
