New Simpson Hill District #32 Board of Education met April 15.

Here is the minutes provided by the board:

President Hoffard called the regular board meeting of April 15, 2021, to order at 6:00PM.

Present were: Hoffard, Craig, Mize, Hill, Widowski, and Treat. Ross was absent.

Administration present: Mr. Nighswander and Mrs. Armstrong. Visitors present: Ralph Eide (Baysinger Architects), Cody Baity, and Blair Maxwell.

Motion by Hill seconded by Mize to approve the minutes of the 03-11-21 regular board meeting, carried.

Motion by Hill seconded by Treat to approve the financial report as presented and payment of the bills as listed in the amount of $19,429., carried.

ADMINISTRATIVE REPORTS: Playground Update (Ralph Eide), Enrollment/Mobility, Calendar, Project Graduation, Gym mats/banners, Mobile app, 8th Grade graduation

Motion by Mize seconded by Craig to authorize the Superintendent to advertise grounds maintenance contract, carried.

Motion by Hill seconded by Treat to accept price quotes as presented, carried.

Motion by Craig seconded by Mize to accept the bus bid from Midwest Bus Sales 2022 Thomas bus, carried.

Motion by Widowski seconded by Treat to add Joe Nighswander as an authorized signer on the Regions Bank account, carried.

Motion by Hill seconded by Craig to set the date of the special board meeting for board reorganization and election of officers for April 27, 2021 at 5:30 pm, carried.

Motion to approve the BETA Club trip to the National Convention in Orlando, tabled.

Motion by Mize seconded by Craig to approve the District Plan as presented, carried.

Motion by Hill seconded by Widowski to convene to closed session at 8:00 pm to discuss:

  • Appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance or dismissal of specific employee of the District or legal counsel for the District, including hearing testimony on a complaint lodged against an employee or against legal counsel for the District to determine its validity. 5 ILCS 120/2(c)(1) 
  • Collective bargaining matters between the public body and its employees or their representatives, or deliberations concerning salary schedules for one or more classes of employees. 5 ILCS 120/2(c)(2)  
Motion by Hill seconded by Widowski to resume open session at 8:32, carried.

Motion by Mize seconded by Craig to accept the NSH EA letter of intent to bargain, carried. 

Motion by Treat seconded by Widowski to accept the resignation of Sara Goddard as Girls Assistant Basketball Coach, carried.

Motion by Craig seconded by Treat to accept the resignation of Sara Goddard as 8th Grade co-sponsor effective June 30, 2021, carried. 

Motion by Mize seconded by Hill to accept the resignation of Melanie Wright as 8th Grade co-sponsor effective June 30, 2021, carried. 

Motion by Craig seconded by Widowski to authorize the Superintendent to advertise for the following extracurricular positions: Girls Assistant Basketball Coach and 8th Grade Sponsor, carried. 

Motion by Treat seconded by Mize to approve the playground renovation project, carried. 

Motion by Craig seconded by Treat to adjourn, carried.
