Metropolis Police Department issued the following announcement on Apr. 20. 

From the Office of the Director of Public Safety: Arrest Summary, April 11-17, 2021;

April 14, 2021

Joshua K Hunt, 38, Metropolis was arrested on 12th and Market St. Hunt was wanted on a warrant. The warrant was issued by Massac County for Disorderly Conduct (FTA). Hunt was lodged at the Massac County Detention Center. 

Metropolis Police responded to a call of an erratic driver in the 600 block of 7th St. A Metropolis Officer observed a White Toyota Rav4 driving down 7th St. The vehicle made several abrupt turns and at one point was driving in the opposite lane of traffic. A traffic stop was made. The driver, Travis Lee Boys Miller, 37, Metropolis showed signs of impairment. Miller was also irrational. Miller failed the field sobriety tests and was arrested for DUI-drugs and improper lane usage. Miller was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

Metropolis Officers were called to the 400 block of Tanner Drive. Upon arrival, Officers met with the victim who stated that he was punched in the face. The offender Joshua K Hunt,38, Metropolis (who had bonded out from the earlier warrant arrest) was arrested and charged with Battery. Hunt was processed and released on bond.

April 16, 2021

Wanda G Martin, 50, Metropolis was arrested at a residence in the 700 block of E. 7th St. Martin was wanted on a warrant. The warrant was issued by Massac County for Aggravated Battery to a police officer (FTA). Martin was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

April 17, 2021

Metropolis Officers were called to Harrah’s Hotel and Casino. Upon Arrival they met with an Agent from the State Police (IL Gaming Board – IGB) and Security. They were informed that housekeeping kept hearing a child crying on the 5th floor of the hotel. They further stated that the child seemed to be getting “hoarse” from all the crying. Housekeeping located the 18 month old child alone in a room. Video surveillance located the mother gambling. She was escorted back to the room. Investigation revealed that the child had been left alone in the room for approximately 2 hours. Gemma Lynn Uy Davis,43, Nashville TN, was arrested for endangering the life and health of a child. She was transported to the Metropolis Police Station for processing. DCFS was contacted and responded to the police station as well. Upon completion of the police processing, Uy Davis was released on bond and turned over to DCFS. 

The preceding information pertains to arrests made by the Metropolis Police Department. These arrests are made on the basis of probable cause and all arrestees are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
