Metropolis Police Department issued the following announcement on Apr. 6. 

From the Office of the Director of Public Safety: Arrest Summary, March 28-April 3, 2021;

March 28, 2021

Metropolis Officers received call that a person was seen entering an unoccupied residence in the 1700 block of Metropolis St. Upon arrival, Officers observed that a door had been pried open. The officer also heard noises coming from the second floor, which sounded like wires being clipped.. Metropolis Officers were assisted by Deputies from Massac County. They located Billy J. Purvis,45, Metropolis inside. The also observed that he had cut wires from house. The owner was contacted and officers were advised that Purvis did not have permission to be in the house nor should he have been cutting the wires. Purvis was arrested and charged with Burglary, Theft, Criminal Damage to property, Criminal Trespass to residence and possession of Burglary Tools. Purvis was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

March 29, 2021

Metropolis Officers were called to a disturbance at the Quality Inn on E. 5th St. Upon arrival, Officers met with Roxanne M. Herndon,41, East Peoria. Herndon advised that she had been involved in an argument. A computer check revealed that Herndon was wanted on a warrant. The warrant was issued by Tazwell County, IL for failure to appear – DUI. Herndon was arrested and lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

Leonard Matthew Greenfield,47, Joppa was arrested at the Dollar General on W. 10th St. Greenfield was wanted on warrants. The first warrant was issued by Massac County for Theft. The second one was issued by Paducah, Ky for Burglary. Greenfield was lodged at the Massac County Detention Center.

April 3, 2021

Autumn J. Lynn, 36, Golconda was arrested outside the Smallville Apts. on E. 5th St. Lynn was wanted on a warrant. The warrant was issued by Massac County for possession of Meth. Lynn was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

The preceding information pertains to arrests made by the Metropolis Police Department. These arrests are made on the basis of probable cause and all arrestees are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
