City of Vienna City Council Met Feb. 17.

The City Council of the City of Vienna met in regular session at Vienna City Hall with the following members and guest:

Jim Evans, Alderman
Austin Tuey, Alderman
Aleatha Wright, City Clerk
ELECTED/APPOINTED OFFICIALS ABSENT:
Melissa Hill, Alderman
Michelle Meyers, Treasurer
Shane Racey, Superintendent
Jim Miller, Police Chief
Brent Williams, Fire Ghief

There being a quorum, Mayor Owen called the meeting of the Vienna City Council to order at 6:30 p.m.
NEW BUSINESS
Alderman Owen announced his appointment of Mayor Pro-tern, Steve Penrod, with consent of council.
Alderman Tuey made a motion to Approve the Omnibus Consent Agenda consisting of the February 3, 2021 Council Meeting Minutes, the Warrant($ 29,567.97) and the Treasurer's Report.
Alderman Racey seconded the motion. All in favor, Motion carried.
Alderman Evans made a motion to Authorize and Approve $2,000.00 (Community Funds) for the purchase of Christmas pole lights from Street Decor, LLC. The motion was seconded by Alderman Tuey. All in favor, motion carried.
PUBLIC COMMENT - None
ELECTED/APPOINTED OFFICIALS
Mayor Owen and council discussed plans of a memorial bench site at the city park in honor of Jon Simmons as several organizations had shown interest to contribute along with the city. Owen mentioned looking into the replacement of playground spring riders at the park. Owen also said new rope lights would be ordered for the bike statue near the depot. Alderman Racey suggested researching the history of the development of the city park of organizations and founders that were involved to display the information at the park.
Alderman Evans discussed city road conditions with council concerning the recent inclement weather.
Alderman Pemod briefly mentioned VHS was still in the process of obtaining property on North 4th Street that was recently demolished with city grant funds. Pemod also discussed roof replacement of the city library.
As there was no further business to discuss Alderman Tuey made a motion to adjourn the meeting.
Alderman Racey seconded the-motion. Motion carried.
Mayor Owen declared the meeting adjourned at 7:14 p.m.
