MASSAC COUNTY SHERIFF OFFICE: Stand Off in Brookport

Massac County Sheriff Office issued the following announcement on Feb. 27. 

On 02/26/21 at 2:25 PM Massac County Sheriffs Deputies responded to the 1600 block of Greek Rd in Brookport. The initial call was for a Domestic Disturbance with possible shots being fired. Upon arrival, Deputies made contact with a woman and 3 children. Deputies were able to get the woman and 3 children to safety. It was discovered that a male suspect was inside the residence with a child under 1 year of age and the male suspect was armed with a rifle. The male suspect released the young child to Deputies shortly after. The male suspect barricaded himself inside the residence. 

Negotiations were conducted with the male suspect over the next few hours. After dark, the male suspect was seen exiting the residence in an attempt to escape. A short foot chase ensued with the male suspect. The male suspect was captured and taken into custody at 7:31 PM. No one was injured during the ordeal.

Arrested: Jereme C. Parker/33 of Brookport

Charges: Reckless Discharge of Firearm and Felon in Possession of a Weapon

Further charges are pending upon review by the Massac County States Attorney 

The Massac County Sheriffs Office was assisted by the Illinois State Police, Metropolis Police, Brookport Police, Illinois Department of Conservation Police, Massac Memorial Ambulance and the Brookport Fire Department.
