Vienna Public School District #55 Board of Education Met Jan. 11.

Opening The regular meeting of the Vienna Public School District #55 Board of Education was called to order by Mrs. Sherie Smith, President, at 6:00 p.m. with the following members present.

Present S. Smith, President S. Borders, Vice-President K. Johnson, Secretary P. Trovillion (arrived 6:53 p.m.) L. Hook T. Betts

Absent D. Clayton.

Others Present G. Frehner, A. Hanks, D. Jones, L. Payne, S. Robinson.

Hearing Discussed no public hearing for the intent to issue working cash bonds.

Consent Agenda Motion by Border seconded by Hook to approve the consent agenda as presented. Roll call. Voting yes: Borders, Trovillion, Hook, Smith, Betts, Johnson. Voting no: none. Motion carried.

Comments from Employees and Public Mrs. Jones commented on the updated library, the results of the teacher in-service day, the design a mask program, and student skating.

Business of the Administration

Unfinished Business 

Adopt Calendar

Motion by Borders seconded by Betts to approve the proposed school calendar for the 2021-2022 school year. Roll call. Voting yes: Borders, Hook, Smith, Betts, Johnson. Voting no: none. Motion carried.

Closed Session 

Motion by Betts seconded by Johnson to go in to closed session at 6:38 p.m. to discuss (1) the appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of employees of the District or legal counsel for the District including hearing testimony on a complaint lodged against an employee of the District or against legal counsel of the District, to determine its validity. Roll call. Voting yes: Borders, Hook, Smith, Betts, Johnson. Voting no: none. Motion carried.

Motion by Betts seconded by Borders to come out of closed session and return to regular open session at 7:05 p.m. Roll call. Voting yes: Borders, Trovillion, Hook, Smith, Betts, Johnson. Voting no: none. Motion carried.

Seniority Lists 

Motion by Borders seconded by Hook to approve the seniority list as presented for certified staff. Roll call. Voting yes: Borders, Trovillion, Hook, Smith, Betts, Johnson. Voting no: none. Motion carried.

Motion by Johnson seconded by Borders to approve the employment service records as presented for non-certified personnel. Roll call. Voting yes: Borders, Trovillion, Hook, Smith, Betts, Johnson. Voting no: none. Motion carried.

Approve Policies 

Motion by Trovillion seconded by Betts to approve the recommended board of education policies as presented. Roll call. Voting yes: Borders, Trovillion, Hook, Smith, Betts, Johnson. Voting no: none. Motion carried.

Approve Fuel Bid 

Motion by Hook and seconded by Betts to approve the January to December 2021 Southern FS #2 Dieselex gold highway bus fuel contract as the bid price of $2.794 per gallon. Roll call. Voting yes: Borders, Trovillion, Hook, Smith, Betts, Johnson. Voting no: none. Motion carried.

Other 

The hearing for selling working cash bonds for the purpose of purchasing buses is set for February 8, 2021 at 6:00 p.m.

Mrs. Smith read 2 thank you cards from the teachers' association thanking the board for the Christmas lunch held at the school.

Mrs. Smith commented on the hard work done during the week prior to Christmas break.

The board thanked the teachers for their Christmas gifts.

Motion by Betts seconded by Borders to adjourn at 7:16 p.m. All voted yea. Motion carried.
