The regular meeting of the City Council, City of Metropolis, Illinois was held at 7:00 p.m., in Council Chambers of City Hall at 106 West 5th Street, Metropolis, Illinois. Upon roll call the following Aldermen were present: Alderman Jeremy Holley, Chad Lewis, Don Canada, John Taylor and Darryl Neill, Al Wagner, Mike Hall, Chuck Short, City Clerk Jan Adams, Mayor William McDaniel, Corporate Counsel Rick Abell and concerned citizens of Metropolis.

Natalie Harris has been chosen to represent the United States Navy attending the Inauguration of President Joe Biden in Washington, DC. We are honored as a City and extremely proud of her.
CORPORATE COUNSEL:
The state of Illinois offers a Local CURE Program for Coronavirus Relief Fund Assistance for local governments. The City of Metropolis is participating in the Economic Support Grant to assist Metropolis businesses by reimbursing funds to alleviate the expenses incurred by employers that would not have otherwise been necessary to business operations due to the COVID-19 Pandemic. The grant will reimburse qualifying expenses that were made between March 1, 2020 and December 30, 2020. Businesses that meet the criteria may receive up to a $3,000 grant. Here are some examples of extraordinary expenses; plexiglass, tent rental for outdoor dining or retail services, outdoor heating equipment, PPE for employees or customers and sanitizing or cleaning stations to name a few. There are minimum requirements to be eligible. The application is on our city website,
Mayor McDaniel’s Facebook page or may be picked up at City Hall through Chad Murray.
FINANCIAL REPORT:
Moved by Alderman Jeremy Holley and second by Alderman Darryl Neill to approve the Finance Report be received and approved and that the orders be drawn on the Treasurer for the different amounts mentioned therein and that the Mayor and the City Clerk be authorized to make necessary arrangements for payment of current Salaries, Payroll and Contract bills;
