Metropolis Police Department issued the following announcement on Feb. 2. 

From the Office of the Director of Public Safety: Arrest Summary, January 23-31, 2021;

January 23, 2021

A Metropolis Officer observed a blue Hyundai proceeding on 10th St without any headlights on as required. A traffic stop was conducted at 10th and Girard. A computer check on the driver, Paige A Gelso,18, Murphysboro, IL revealed that her drivers license was suspended. Gelso was charged and released on bond. 

January 26,2021

Jimmy D Griffin,25, Metropolis was arrested in a n apartment on Lois Ln. Griffin was wanted on a warrant. The warrant was issued by Massac for failure to appear-resisting a peace officer. Griffin was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

January 27, 2021

Metropolis Offices were called to a domestic disturbance at a residence in the 300 block of Oak Dr. Upon arrival, offices learned that the victim had been struck in the head by a bottle. Marleana J Smith,36, Metropolis was arrested for Domestic Battery. Smith was taken to the Metropolis Police Dept for processing. She was released on bond.

January 29, 2021

A Metropolis Officer observed a white GMC SUV traveling E/B on US 45 at 8th St. Radar clocked him at 47 mph in a posted 35 mph zone. A traffic stop was conducted on US 45 and Bullock Ln. A computer check revealed that the driver, Orion Knight Partain,22, Paducah, KY had a suspended drivers license. Partain was also in possession of Cannabis which was not properly packaged/purchased in IL. Partain was charged with driving while license suspended, speeding and illegal transportation of Cannabis. He was taken to the Metropolis Police Dept. for processing and released on bond.

The preceding information pertains to arrests made by the Metropolis Police Department. These arrests are made on the basis of probable cause and all arrestees are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
