Metropolis Police Department issued the following announcement on Jan. 26.
From the Office of the Director of Public Safety: Arrest Summary, January 17-23, 2021;
January 19, 2021
Metropolis Officers were called to the Acee’s Truck Stop in reference to a theft. Upon arriving, Officers learned that the subject fled westbound. A description was given and upon searching the area, the subject was spotted running towards Faughn Lane. A Sergeant caught up with the subject on the front porch of 17 Faughn Lane. The subject Samuel C Henderson,23, Paducah, KY was still in possession of the stolen items. The sergeant was also informed that Henderson was caught on video stealing additional items on the previous night. Henderson was arrested and charged with Retail Theft. Upon completion of processing, he was released on bond.
Metropolis Officers were notified by the Paducah Police Dept that a stolen vehicle might be located at the Acee’s Truck Stop. Metropolis Officers and a Massac County Sheriff’s Deputy responded. Upon arrival, Officers located the stolen vehicle a white Buick LaCrosse parked in the lot. Officers waited for the customers to leave. Officers located a subject in the gaming area. Upon seeing the police, he became extremely nervous and tried to leave. Subject was advised to stop and he ignored the commands. When a Sergeant grabbed ahold of his arm, he tensed up and blurted the car is not stolen. A search of the subject, Christopher A Senko, 35, Elizabethtown, KY revealed the key fob for the Buick and a black change purse containing plastic baggies with a substance that later tested positive as Methamphetamines. A search of the vehicle located more Meth and paraphernalia. Henderson was charged with Theft, Possession of a controlled substance with the intent to deliver, possession of Meth, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Henderson was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.
January 20, 2021
Metropolis Officers ere called to a domestic disturbance at a residence in the 1300 block of Filmore. The caller stated that she believed her arm was broken. Upon arrival, Officers learned that the victim and offender had been arguing and Preston N Smith,27, Metropolis slammed her arm into the wall. It did appear that the arm was broken. EMS transported the victim the hospital. Smith was arrested for Domestic Battery and lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.
January 21, 2021
Metropolis Police were investigating a stolen auto complaint. As the officers were completing the report, the stolen auto was observed in the parking lot of the police department. The victim had stated that the vehicle had been left running to warm up and the passenger, Samantha M. Walter,30, Metropolis was left with the vehicle while the owner went back inside to grab an item. When he came back outside the vehicle was gone. He wished to sign a complaint against Walter. Upon approaching the vehicle in the police parking lot, officers observed Walter in the vehicle. She advised that she could not have stolen the vehicle because she had the keys. Upon confirming with the victim that he wanted to pursue charges, Walter was arrested and charged with Theft. Walter was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.
Metropolis Police were investigation a theft from Hitterman’s. Video surveillance showed a subject, later identified as Austin R. Koon,25, Metropolis steal some items from the store. This theft occurred on January 18, 2021. An employee of Hitterman’s called and stated that Koon was back in the store. Upon arrival, Officers located Koon. Koon was arrested and charged with Retail Theft. Koon was taken to the Metropolis Police Dept for processing. He was released on bond.
January 22, 2021
A metropolis Sergeant stopped a silver Chevrolet Impala on 3rd St near Metropolis street for expired registration. A computer check revealed that the driver, James Henry Smith, 40, Fridley MN had a suspended driver’s license. Smith was charged and released on bond.
The preceding information pertains to arrests made by the Metropolis Police Department. These arrests are made on the basis of probable cause and all arrestees are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
