City

City of Vienna City Council met Dec. 2.

Here is the minutes provided by the council:

There being a quorum, Mayor Jon Simmons called the meeting of the Vienna City Council to order at 6:30 p.m.

NEW BUSINESS

Alderman Racey made a motion to Approve the Omnibus Consent Agenda consisting of the November 18, 2020 Council Meeting Minutes and the Warrant ($21,133.87) Alderman Tuey seconded the motion. All in favor, Motion carried.

Alderman Penrod made a motion to Authorize and Approve General Funds in the amount of $658.35 for the purchase of an AMPS charger for Public works Dept. The motion was seconded by Alderman Owen. All in favor, motion carried.

PUBLIC COMMENT

Jason Meyer introduced hjmself to the city council as Jon Simmons stepson. Meyer, on behalf of United States Representative John Shimkus, was present to honor Mayor Simmons by reading a Congressional Record which Shimkus read to Congress on November 1 7, 2020 recogmzing and honoring Mayor Simmons life including his service in the HS Army and as Mayor for the city of Vienna for the past 12 years.

Brenda Kreuter requested consent from the city council to continue planning the Christmas on the Square event for Sunday, December 13th. Council gave consent.

ELECTED/ APPOINTED OFFICIALS

Mayor Simmons commented on the city Christmas lights thanking the public works dept. Simmons also thanked Brenda Kreuter for her work on the beautification committee for the city square.

Alderman Penrod said after looking more into the roof damage at the old city hall it would be more cost-effective to build a storage building at public works department and tear down the old city hall versus the cost of replacing the roof. Penrod noted there was no rush to start this project. Penrod also briefly discussed speaking with Supt Racey of possibly extending the road through Fairview Drive to gain access to Hillview opposed to going through the Fairgrounds.

As there was no further business to discuss Alderman Evans made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Alderman Owen seconded the motion. Motion carried.

Mayor Simmons declared the meeting adjourned at 6:45 p.m.
