Vienna High School District 133 Board of Education met Nov. 9.

Opening 

The regular meeting of the Vienna Public School District #55 Board of Education was called to order by Mrs. Sherie Smith, President, at 6:00 p.m. with the following members present.

K. Johnson, Secretary 

P. Trovillion 

L. Hook

D. Clayton.

Others Present 

G. Frehner, A. Hanks, Kendall King of King's Financial, A. Vinson, J. Partridge, S. Robinson.

Consent Agenda 

Motion by Border seconded by Hook to approve the consent agenda as presented. Roll call. Voting yes: Borders, Trovillion, Hook, Smith, Betts, Johnson. Voting no: none. Motion carried.

Comments from Employees and Public 

Mrs. Vinson discussed what has been going on in the younger grades. All grades are participating in Red Ribbon Week this week.

Business of the Administration 

(A) Treasurer's Report (1) fund balances (2) FRIS report (3) education fund year to date activity (B) Administrative Reports (1) bond payment schedule and debt limit overview reported by Kendall King (2) school improvement plan presented by Adam Hanks (3) tentative e-learning plan proposal (4) maintenance grant update (5) November 2020 labor relations meeting report-nothing to report

Closed Session 

Motion by Betts seconded by Trovillion to go in to closed session at 7:17 p.m. to discuss (1) the appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of employees of the District or legal counsel for the District including hearing testimony on a complaint lodged against an employee of the District or against legal counsel of the District, to determine its validity. Roll call. Voting yes: Borders, Trovillion, Hook, Smith, Betts, Johnson. Voting no: none. Motion carried.

Motion by Betts seconded by Hook to come out of closed session and return to regular open session at 7:32 p.m. Roll call. Voting yes: Borders, Trovillion, Hook, Smith, Betts, Johnson. Voting no: none. Motion carried.

Let the records show the following items were discussed: (1) the appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of employees of the District or legal counsel for the District including hearing testimony on a complaint lodged against an employee of the District or against legal counsel of the District, to determine its validity.

Beta Club Attendance to Conventions 

Motion by Johnson seconded by Betts to authorize the junior high Beta Club's attendance at the 2021 state and national conventions, respectively. Roll call. Voting yes: Borders, Trovillion, Hook, Smith, Betts, Johnson. Voting no: none. Motion carried.

City of Vienna Police Department MOU 

Motion by Borders seconded by Trovillion to approve the Vienna Public School District #55 and City of Vienna Police Department general law enforcement memorandum of understanding, as presented. Roll call. Voting yes: Borders, Trovillion, Hook, Smith, Betts, Johnson. Voting no: none. Motion carried.

Other 

November 15 is Illinois' School Board Members' Day. Vienna Grade School commends its board members for their dedication and service to its students, staff, and district.

The triple I conference is being presented virtually in November.

Kim Johnson is recognized as a master board member. She received a pin.

The Christmas party is being planned for December 11.

Motion by Betts seconded by Borders to adjourn at 8:24 p.m. All voted yea. Motion carried.
