As most of the country continues to ease restrictions related to COVID-19, residents in Southern Illinois’ Region 5 were recently told that Gov. J.B. Pritzker is tightening his dictates on the residents there.
According to The Southern Illinoisan, Pritzker claimed the measures were necessary based on the rolling seven-day-average positive rate from COVID-19 tests reaching 8%.
The crackdown on economic and social activity includes forcing bars and restaurants to close to any indoor service, as well as closing completely by 11 p.m. Additionally, patrons may only be seated at tables at all times, the tables must be at least six feet apart, and reservations will be required for all parties.
Pritzker also declared dancing to be illegal at bars in Region 5. Likewise, no standing will be tolerated.
