Joppa Volunteer Fire Department responded to 32 calls in 2018 - 113.3 percent more than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Joppa included 28 fires - 17 structure fires and 11 other fires.

In all, the department saw $15,000 in fire loss - or about $536 per fire.

The department also received four false calls.
