Rural Pope County FPD responds to 12 fires in 2018

Rural Pope County Fire Protection District responded to 12 calls in 2018 - 40 percent less than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Rural Pope County included 12 fires - five structure fires, one vehicle fire and six other fires.

In all, the department saw $270,300 in fire loss - or about $22,525 per fire.

The calls resulted in one civilian non-fire injury and two civilian non-fire deaths.

The Rural Pope County Fire Protection District had an annual budget of $163,242 in 2017.
