Cobden Volunteer Fire Department responded to 16 calls in 2018 - 23.1 percent more than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Cobden included nine fires - four structure fires, one vehicle fire and four other fires.

In all, the department saw $240,000 in fire loss - or about $26,667 per fire.

The department also received seven false calls.
