Dongola Fire District responded to 16 calls in 2018 - 300 percent more than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Dongola included 15 fires - eight structure fires, four vehicle fires and three other fires.

In all, the department saw $180,500 in fire loss - or about $12,033 per fire.

The department also received one false call.

The calls resulted in one civilian non-fire injury and one civilian non-fire death.
