Screenshots of text messages allegedly from Bradley Village Administrator Catherine Wojnarowski reveal the use of a homophobic slur in an apparent reference to Village Treasurer and Finance Director Rob Romo.

The message allegedly sent in April states, “Romo the homo. That’s what I call him, lol,” according to Illinois Leaks.

The source of the leak has not been publicly identified. Wojnarowski, through her lawyer, said that she does not remember sending the message, and if she did, asserts that its public disclosure is an “invasion of privacy.”

Bradley Mayor Pro Tem Mike Watson confirmed that the village placed Wojnarowski, whose tenure as village administrator began in December 2017, on paid administrative leave starting Sept. 10. The duration of her leave has been left open-ended.

Watson simply said that Wojnarowski is under investigation for a “personal matter.”
