Metropolis Police Department issued the following announcement on Sept. 15.
From the Office of the Director of Public Safety: Arrest Summary, August 31 - September 12, 2020;

Metropolis Officers responded to a crash in the area of McCrary and 12th. Upon arrival, officers observed that a black KIA had stuck a utility pole, snapping it in half. The driver, Chad M. Panky,20, Ullin showed signs of impairment. He had slurred speech, glassy bloodshot eyes and an odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath. Panky failed the field sobriety tests. Panky was arrested for DUI, operation of an uninsured motor vehicle, and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident. Panky was processed at the Metropolis Police Department and released on bond.
September 11, 2020
Metropolis Officers were called to the Super suds Laundry Mat on E. 5th St. The owner reported a theft. Upon arrival, Detectives viewed video surveillance footage which showed the subject that they recognized as Joe J Taylor, 28, Paducah, KY. The video showed him stealing two wireless cameras. Detectives were able to track Taylor down at a residence on 7th St. Taylor was arrested for Burglary and Theft. Taylor was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.
The preceding information pertains to arrests made by the Metropolis Police Department. These arrests are made on the basis of probable cause and all arrestees are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
