Shawnee CUSD 84 School District issued the following announcement on Sept. 1.
This message is to update our families regarding our current learning plan and future learning plan.
We are currently conducting Remote Learning until Friday, September 18th. As you know, we had planned to begin the year with the Hybrid Model but had to transition to Remote Learning due to COVID-19 issues.
Teachers are available from 7:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. daily. Meals and/or homework packets are being delivered on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays.
At the September 15th meeting, the Board of Education will decide which learning plan will be offered beginning Monday, September 21st: either continue with Remote Learning or transition to a Hybrid Model of both in-person and remote learning.
The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) has issued
Adaptive Pause and Metrics to assist school districts in making informed and safe decisions regarding school attendance:
https://www.dph.illinois.gov/countymetrics
The Board of Education will base their decision using the latest County Level COVID-19 Risk Metrics for Alexander, Jackson and Union counties.
Families will still have the option of select Remote Learning if the decision is to transition to a Hybrid Model of both in-person and remote learning. Meals and homework packet delivery/pick-up will still be offered as well.
The Board's decision will be communicated with families on Wednesday, September 16th.
Please be sure to contact your child's teacher or office for any assistance. Thank you.
