Metropolis Police Department issued the following announcement on Sept. 2. 

From the Office of the Director of Public Safety: Arrest Summary, August 23-31, 2020;

August 23,2020

Metropolis Officers were called to Harrah’s Casino. Upon arrival, Officers met with IGB Agents and Security. Offices were informed that Long Viet Deo, 46, Metropolis had been previously trespassed from the property and had returned. Deo was arrested and charged with criminal trespass to property. Deo was taken to the Metropolis Police Dept for processing. He was released on bond.

August 25,2020

Metropolis Officers were called to a residence in the Spence apartments. The caller stated that Amanda J Jennings,35, Metropolis had entered the residence and was removing property. Upon arrival, Offices met with the caller. The investigation led to the arrest of Jennings. She was charged with Criminal trespass to property, theft and disorderly conduct. Jennings was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

A Metropolis Officer stopped a gray Mercury Grand Marquis for speeding (42/30 mph zone) on 5th at Filmore. A computer check revealed that the license plates came back to a Dodge. The driver, Marcus J Hyde,31, Paducah KY had a suspended driver’s license and could not provide proof of insurance. Hyde was arrested and charged with driving while license suspended, operation of an uninsured motor vehicle, improper use of registration and speeding. Hyde was able to post bond and was released after being processed.

August 26,2020

Antonio M Jones,40, Metropolis was arrested for Domestic Battery at his residence in the 700 block of E. 5th St. Investigation showed that he beat a 14-year-old juvenile with a belt causing welts and injuries. Jones was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

August 30,2020

Shelitha A Deberry,33, Decatur, was arrested in the 1100 block of Butler. Deberry was wanted on a warrant. The warrant was issued by Massac County for Battery. Deberry was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

The preceding information pertains to arrests made by the Metropolis Police Department. These arrests are made on the basis of probable cause and all arrestees are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
