Metropolis Police Department issued the following announcement on Aug. 11.

July 27, 2020
Metropolis Officers were called to a residence in the 400 block of W. 7th. Offices met with the victim
who stated that his lawn mower was stolen. Neighbors identified the thief as Herbert L Bradford, 56, Metropolis. Officers located Bradford in the 500 block of W. 8th St. Bradford denied stealing the lawn mower and claimed it was someone else. After further questioning, he still denied stealing it but knew where it was. Officers tracked down the lawn mower and the person in possession stated Bradford had sold it to him. Bradford was arrested for theft. He was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.
August 2, 2020
A Metropolis Officer stopped a gold colored Saturn on Ferry at 10th St for a defective head light. The driver, Brittany N Cullison,34, Brookport, could not provide proof of insurance. A computer check revealed that the license plates belonged to a 2003 GMC. Cullison was found to be in possession of 7 credit cards that belonged to different individuals that were not aware that she had them. Cullison claimed she found the credit cards. She was also in possession of Cannabis that was not in the proper container to be transported in a motor vehicle. Cullison was arrested and charged with No valid registration, improper sue of registration, theft of mislaid/lost credit cards, operation of an uninsured motor vehicle and improper container. Cullison was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.
Metropolis Officers were called to the Huddle House for a disturbance. Upon arrival, Officers observed the manager in the parking lot with a subject later identified as Felipe D Duke,36, Paducah, KY. Officers learned from a customer and the manager that Dule started yelling and insulting the waitress and causing a scene. Duke had been served a cup of coffee. When the waitress came back to ask if he wanted to order food, he became disruptive. Duke was arrested and charged with Disordely Conduct. Duke was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.
August 3, 2020
Metropolis Officers were called to a domestic disturbance at a residence in the 1000 block of E. 3rd. Upon arrival, the victim stated that Kyle B Hurst,33, Metropolis had been arguing with their daughter and that he tried to enter the residence. The victim also stated that there was an order of protection against Hurst. Hurst had left the scene but officers located him a few blocks away. Hurst was arrested and charged with violation of an order of protection. Hurst was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.
August 5, 2020
Metropolis Police received a complaint that Davontay R. Blye,24, Metropolis was in an apartment in the Massac Village Apartment Complex on Lois Lane. Blye had been previously trespassed from the property by the management. Upon arrival, Officers located Blye in the apartment. Blye was arrested for criminal trespass to property. He was transported to the Metropolis Police Department and then released on bond.
Metropolis Officers were called to a residence in the 1200 block of Girard. Caller stated that Brandon M. McBride,20, Metropolis was punching her car. Upon arrival, the caller stated that she has had previous problems with McBride. Officers located McBride down the block. He was arrested for disorderly conduct and taken to the Massac County Detention Center. While being booked at the jail, McBride advised the officers to look in the battery compartment of his cell phone. Officers located Meth inside. McBride was charged with disorderly conduct, possession of Meth and bringing contraband into a jail.
August 6, 2020
Metropolis Officers received a 911 call of a domestic disturbance at a residence in the 1000 block of E. 2nd St. Upon arrival, Officers learned that two victims and had been choked and struck by Justin D. Meeks,30, Metropolis. Officers observed that the victims showed marks and redness. Meeks was arrested and charged with two counts of Domestic Battery. Meeks was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.
August 7, 2020
A Metropolis Sergeant observed a gray Oldsmobile drive on the sidewalk, screeching its tires and proceed northbound on US 45 from Vienna St. The Sergeant observed that the driver was driving erratically and showing other signs of impairment. A traffic stop was conducted. It took nearly a mile for him to finally pull over. The driver, Michael D Anderson,47, Metropolis had admitted to the Sergeant in the past that he was a drug user. Anderson failed the field sobriety tests. Anderson was advised he was under arrest. Anderson resisted efforts to be handcuffed and a struggle ensued. Anderson was taken in to custody. Anderson was charged with DUI, resisting arrest and other traffic offenses. He was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.
Nathan J Purvis,47, Paducah was arrested in the field adjacent to Southgate Nursing. Purvis was wanted on a warrant. The warrant was issued by the Commonwealth of KY for Parole Violation. Purvis was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.
The preceding information pertains to arrests made by the Metropolis Police Department. These arrests are made on the basis of probable cause and all arrestees are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
