Metropolis Police Department issued the following announcement on July 29. 

From the Director of Public Safety: Arrest Summary, July 19-25, 2020;

July 19, 2020

A Metropolis Officer stopped a white Dodge Caravan for speeding 48 mph in a 35 mph zone on 5th St at E. 8th St. A computer check on the driver, Breanna LP Gilbert, 24, Paducah, KY revealed that her driver’s license was suspended. Gilbert was charged with driving while license suspended and speeding. She was released on bond.

A Metropolis Officer observed a black Chevrolet pick-up that had recently been reported as stolen. The truck was reported stolen to Massac County Sheriff’s Deputies. A traffic stop was conducted. The passenger, Louis A Tripplet, 57, Metropolis was found to be in possession of a glass smoking pipe with drug residue on it as well as an open bottle of alcohol. Tripplet was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and illegal transportation of open alcohol-passenger. He was released on bond. The vehicle and driver were turned over to Massac County Deputies.

July 20, 2020

A Metropolis Sergeant arrested Joshua N. Sullivan,30, Metropolis in the 1200 block of Coburn. Sullivan was wanted on a warrant. The warrant was issued by Massac County for Domestic Battery. Sullivan was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

July 21, 2020

Metropolis Officers were called to a residence in the 1100 block of E. 3rd. Officers met with the caller who stated that Christopher A Widener,25, Metropolis had damaged his garage. The caller advised he would sign a complaint. A Metropolis Sergeant located Widener at 7th and Scott. Widener was arrested for criminal damage to property. Widener was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

July 25, 2020

Metropolis Officers were called to a residence on Crestview Dr. Upon arrival, Officers learned that Joshua K. Hunt, 27, Metropolis was acting irrational and talking to himself. He became angry and the residence and threw large rocks in the driveway blocking vehicles from moving. He was also yelling at the car. Hunt was arrested for disorderly conduct and lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

The preceding information pertains to arrests made by the Metropolis Police Department. These arrests are made on the basis of probable cause and all arrestees are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
