City of Vienna City Council met July 1.

Here is the minutes provided by the council:

The City Council of the City of Vienna met in regular session at Vienna City Hall with the following members and guest:

ELECTED/APPOINTED OFFICIALS PRESENT:

Jon Simmons, Mayor

Melissa Hill, Alderman

Austin Tuey, Alderman

Alan Racey, Alderman

Richard Owen, Alderman

Aleatha Wright, City Clerk

Shane Racey, Supt.

Brent Williams, Fire Chief

Phil Morris, Depot

ELECTED/ APPOINTED OFFICIALS ABSENT:

Steve Penrod, Alderman

Jim Miller, Police Chief

Melissa Presser, City Attorney

There being a quorum, Mayor Simmons called the meeting of the Vienna City Council to order at 6:30 p.m.

NEW BUSINESS

Alderman Hill made a motion to Approve the Omnibus Consent Agenda consisting of the June 17, 2020 Council Meeting Minutes, Treasurer's Report (May) and the Warrant ($21 ,208.12). Alderman Owen seconded the motion. All in favor, Motion carried.

Alderman Racey made a motion to Authorize and Approve Ordinance No. 20-01 , An Ordinance amending Chapter 35.15- Fees for Fire Department Responses. The motion was seconded by Alderman Hill. All in favor, motion carried.

Alderman Hill made a motion to Authorize and Approve Ordinance No. 20-02, An Appropriation Ordinance for the City of Vienna. The motion was seconded by Alderman Tuey. All in favor, Motion carried.

Alderman Owen made a motion to Authorize and Approve Ordinance o. 20-03, A Tax Levy Ordinance for the City of Vienna, IL. Alderman Racey seconded the motion. All in favor, Motion Carried

PUBLIC COMMENT

Emily Kerley, owner of Milkmaid Creations Antique Shop, was present to request consent to continue the former junque jamboree event. Kerley said the Vienna Town Square Mall Antique Shop was up for sale, and if sold, the junque jamboree name would go along with the business if the owner wished to continue the event. Kerley said until then, she would call the event "Vienna Square Market" and hoped to set a date possibly in September contingent on covid 19 restrictions.

Council was in consent to support the event as in the past.

Kerley also mentioned that pending on costs, Jo. Co. Revitalization Committee was looking into purchasing wreaths to place on street light posts around the square at Christmas time.

ELECTED/ APPOINTED OFFICIALS

Simmons mentioned he was still looking into the vacancy in Ward 3. Simmons also commented on the farmers market at the city park.

Wright updated council on grant information including that the Vienna Police Dept. was awarded $3,990.00 through the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board Grant for two incar camera systems.

Fire Chief Williams discussed the need of replacing old outdated extrication equipment.

Williams said cutters were being purchased with fire insurance board funds and requested the city assist with the purchase of spreaders. The item would be placed on the next agenda for action.

Phil Morris, Depot said a penny souvenir machine with four different logos to choose from was placed inside the depot building. The city does not own the machine but would get a percentage of the sales. Morris also mentioned looking into pricing lights for the big bike statue at the city park as well as working with Shawnee Corrections on adding to the statues height.

As there was no further business to discuss Alderman Owen made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Alderman Tuey seconded the motion. Motion carried.

Mayor Simmons declared the meeting adjourned at 7: 10 p.m.
