Analysis: Cairo pays $20.32 for every $1 pensioners contribute to Cairo Firefighters Pension Fund

Taxpayers contributed 95.3 percent of the $236,784 the Cairo Firefighters Pension Fund brought in 2018, or $20.32 for every $1 from pension members, according to a Southern Illinois News analysis of the latest data reported to the Illinois Department of Insurance Pension Division.

In all, Cairo contributed $225,680 to the fund, which saw a $9,005 increase in revenue over 2017. Members contributed $11,104, or 4.7 percent, in 2018.
