Analysis: Metropolis pays $5.98 for every $1 pensioners contribute to Metropolis Police Pension Fund

Taxpayers contributed 85.7 percent of the $564,979 the Metropolis Police Pension Fund brought in 2018, or $5.98 for every $1 from pension members, according to a Southern Illinois News analysis of the latest data reported to the Illinois Department of Insurance Pension Division.

In all, Metropolis contributed $484,144 to the fund, which saw a $141,281 decrease in revenue over 2017. Members contributed $80,835, or 14.3 percent, in 2018.
