The Cypress Elementary School Board of Education meeting was called to order at 7:00 PM by Board President Angela Rudluff.

Beggs, present; Moore, present; Oliver, present; Penrod, present; Schultz, present; Rudluff, present; West, present; Superintendent Shoemaker, present

Visitors Present: Michelle Quertermous, Rusty Marks

Motion by Penrod seconded by Schultz to approve the minutes of the February 18th , 2020 Board Meeting. All present voted yes.

Motion by West seconded by Penrod to approve the treasurer’s report for February 2020. Beggs, yes; Moore, yes; Oliver, yes; Penrod, yes; Schultz, yes; Rudluff, yes; West, yes

Motion by Moore seconded by Penrod to approve the bills for February 2020.

Motion by Penrod seconded by West to destroy executive session audio tapes older than 18 months per the school code.

Motion made by Penrod seconded by West at 7:31 pm to adjourn to close session for Adjournment (Action Item) 5 ILCS 120/2

 The appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of specific employees of the District or legal counsel for the District, including hearing testimony on a complaint lodged against an employee or against legal counsel for the District to determine its validity. 5 ILCS 120/2 (c)(1).

Motion By Moore seconded by Penrod to terminate at will employment of Jessica Lasley, a non certified individual aide, effective the last day of the 2019-2020 school year.

Motion By West seconded by Schultz to accept the resignation of Jessica Bevis effective the last day of the 2019-2020 school year.

Motion By Moore seconded by West to rehire certified tenure staff Marks, Peas, Reid, Duncan, and Quertermous.

Motion By Penrod seconded by Beggs to rehire Ashley Lascelles as resource teacher and place on tenure for the 2020-2021 school year.

Motion By Oliver seconded by Schultz to post an opening for a kindergarten teacher and a second grade teacher for the 2020-2021 school year.

Motion By West seconded by Oliver to honorably dismiss Carrie Hutchison, classroom aide, through reduction in force at the conclusion of the 2020-2021 school year.
