June 8, 2020
A Metropolis Sergeant observed a Maroon Chevrolet pick-up traveling on Yasoda from the Citgo. The Sergeant recognized the driver, Christopher E. Gibbs,29, Carbondale. The Sergeant was aware that Gibbs had a suspended driver’s license. A computer check confirmed it. A traffic stop was conducted. Gibbs could not show proof of insurance. Gibbs was arrested and charged with driving while license suspended and operation of an uninsured motor vehicle. Gibbs was transported to the Metropolis Police Dept. for processing, then released on bond.
June 10, 2020
At 3:35 am, Metropolis officers with the assistance of Massac County Deputies, responded to the area of 10th and Jon St. Offices were advised that numerous shots were being fired. Investigation led to the residence of Rondell W. Lawson,57, Metropolis in the 1100 block of W. 10th. Witnesses observed Lawson firing a rifle across 10th St towards the Secretary of State’s Office. Officers observed Lawson inside the residence but he would not come out. Approximately an hour later, he was talked outside and surrendered. He was armed with a 9mm pistol at the time. Officers located numerous weapons outside the front door was well as numerous shell casing that had been fired from the rifle. Lawson was arrested and charged with Aggravated discharge of a firearm and obstructing justice. He was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.
June 11, 2020
Metropolis Officers were called to a trespasser complaint in the 200 block of W. 16th. The caller found somebody sleeping inside the residence that did not belong there. A Metropolis Sergeant observed a subject sleeping, identified as Kevin L. Kimmons,44, Marion, IL. Kimmons was found to be in possession of Methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. Kimmons was arrested and charged with possession of Meth and drug paraphernalia. Kimmons was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.
June 13, 2020
Frank L Henderson,42, Metropolis was arrested in the 100 block of W. 3rd St. Henderson was wanted on a warrant. The warrant was issued by Massac County for Domestic Battery. Henderson was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.
The preceding information pertains to arrests made by the Metropolis Police Department. These arrests are made on the basis of probable cause and all arrestees are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
