City of Metropolis City Council met April 27.

The regular meeting of the City Council, City of Metropolis, Illinois was held at 7:00 p.m. in Council Chambers of City Hall at 106 West 5th Street, Metropolis, Illinois. Upon roll call the following Aldermen were present: Alderman Jeremy Holley, Don Canada, Chad Lewis, John Taylor and Darryl Neill, Al Wagner, Mike Hall, Chuck Short, City Clerk Jan Adams, Mayor William McDaniel, Corporate Counsel Rick Abell and concerned citizens of Metropolis.

Due to the coronavirus we are holding Council electronically via conference call. The Mayor stated we will continue to keep the doors locked until the Governor lifts the “shelter in place” May 30th, 2020. I ask for continual prayers for our local businesses, our youth and to be mindful of our neighbors. We need to keep safety our number one priority.

Spring Clean Up weeks have been scheduled for the weeks of June 1st and June 8th. We will advertise in the Metropolis Planet and keep flyers at City Hall showing a list of items that will not be included.
