Metropolis Police Department issued the following announcement on June 9.

June 1, 2020
A Metropolis Sergeant observed a black Ford Expedition pull into the parking lot of Dollar General on W. 10th St. The Sergeant recognized the driver as Christopher A Harris, 41, Brookport. The Sergeant was aware that Harris was wanted on a warrant. The warrant was issued by Massac County for Domestic Battery and possession of a firearm without a FOID card. A compute check confirmed the warrant and that Harris had a suspended driver’s license. Harris was arrested and lodged in the Massac County Detention Center. The passenger, Colton S. Corn, 29, Metropolis was also wanted on a warrant. That warrant was issued by Massac County for driving while license suspended. Corn was also arrested and lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.
A Metropolis Officer observed a black Nissan speeding (46 mph in 35 mph zone) on E/b 10th St at W. 9th. A traffic stop was conducted in the parking lot of Casey’s General Store. The driver, Bohdi L. Mason, 27, Metropolis advised the officer that he had a suspended driver’s license and had no insurance. A computer check confirmed he was suspended. Mason was arrested and charged with driving while license suspended, operation of an uninsured motor vehicle and speeding. He was taken to the Metropolis Police Dept. for processing and released after posting bond.
A Metropolis Officer was conducting a security check at the rest area on US 45 and I-24. He observed a gold colored 2004 Grand Prix with tarps over the windows. A computer check revealed that the vehicle had been reported stolen out of North Dakota. The occupants were taken into custody. Zachery G. Lynch,42, Grand Forks, ND was charged with possession of a stolen vehicle. A search revealed a Meth pipe in the vehicle. Lynch was also charged with possession of drug paraphernalia. Lynch was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.
June 2, 2020
Andrea N Travis,29, Metropolis was arrested in the alley behind 1020 Broadway St. Travis was wanted on a warrant. The warrant was issued by Massac County for failure to appear. Travis was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.
Metropolis Officers were called to a residence in the 300 block of Lindsey. The Victim advised that he was struck repeatedly by William C. Ulrich, 30, Metropolis. Ulrich was located a couple blocks away and arrested for Domestic Battery. Ulrich was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.
Metropolis Officers were advised of a Domestic Disturbance at a residence in the 1900 block of McCrary. A few minutes later they received a report of shots being fired. Upon arrival of Metropolis Officers and Massac County Sheriff’s Deputies, a perimeter was established. The suspect, Justin L. Garrett, 29, Metropolis refused to speak to the officers. A short time later, a metropolis Officer observed Garrett exit the back door and enter the garage. The officer could see the handgun in his waistband. A short time later, Garrett exited the garage. The gun was located in the garage. The investigation led to Garrett being charged with Agg Assault and no FOID Card. Garrett was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.
The Metropolis Police were advised of a possible DUI driver on US 45 approaching Metropolis. A Metropolis Officer positioned himself on US 45 near US 145.He observed the suspect vehicle turn north onto US 145. He observed that the driver weaved in and out of its traffic lane and was proceeding at 40-45 mph in a 55 mph zone. A traffic stop was conducted on US 145 south of Country Club Rd. The driver, Joseph D. Page,62, Elizabethtown, IL put the vehicle in reverse instead of park and struck the front end of the squad car. Page showed signs of intoxication and failed the field sobriety tests. Page was arrested for DUI, improper lane usage and illegal transportation of open alcohol. Page was taken to the Metropolis Police Dept. for processing and was released after posting bond.
The preceding information pertains to arrests made by the Metropolis Police Department. These arrests are made on the basis of probable cause and all arrestees are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
