Southern Seven Health Department issued the following announcement on May 28.
Southern Seven Health Department (S7HD) reports 8 new recovered cases of COVID-19 in the Southern Seven region. All of the individuals are from Pulaski County. Currently, there are 88 individuals from the Southern Seven region who have recovered since the start of the pandemic in the United States.
Southern Seven confirms 5 new cases of COVID-19 in the Southern Seven region. All individuals are being isolated. The newly confirmed cases by gender and age are as follows:
Union County: One female 10’s, one female 30’s, one male 30’s, one male 60’s, one female 70’s
Southern Seven regrets to report 1 new death as a result of COVID-19 in the Southern Seven region. The individual was a male in his 90’s from Union County.
Southern Seven Health Department will report on the number of confirmed positive cases as more cases appear. Currently, S7HD is reporting a cumulative total of 216 cases and 8 deaths since the start of the pandemic. The number of individuals confirmed, to date, within the Southern Seven Counties are as follows:
- Alexander: 8 cases, 8 recovered, 0 active, 0 deaths
- Hardin: 1 case, 1 recovered, 0 active, 0 deaths
- Johnson: 8 cases, 4 recovered, 4 active, 0 deaths
- Massac: 7 cases, 6 recovered, 1 active, 0 deaths
- Pope: 1 case, 1 recovered, 0 active, 0 deaths
- Pulaski: 43 cases, 30 recovered, 13 active, 0 deaths
- Union: 148 cases, 38 recovered, 102 active, 8 deaths
Southern Seven Health Department will not release specific information about individuals with COVID-19 beyond their sex and age range, unless ordered by the court.
The number of COVID-19 cases in Illinois has risen dramatically in the past week. According to the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH), in Illinois there were 1,527 new individuals with COVID-19 identified on May 28 bringing the confirmed total in the State to 115,833 individuals, with 5,186 deaths.
