Southern Seven Health Department issued the following announcement on May 15.

Southern Seven Health Department reports 3 new recovered cases of COVID-19 in the Southern Seven region. Two individuals are from Alexander County. The third is from Union County. Currently, there are 51 individuals from the Southern Seven region who have recovered since the start of the pandemic in the United States. Southern Seven reports a total of 1,495 confirmed negative COVID-19 tests have been reported in the region.

Southern Seven confirms 11 new cases of COVID-19 in the Southern Seven region. The individuals are being isolated. The newly confirmed cases by gender and age are as follows:

• Pulaski County: Three males 20’s, two males 30’s, one male 40’s, one male 50’s

• Union County: One female 10’s, one female 20’s, one female 40’s, one female 50’s

Southern Seven Health Department will report on the number of confirmed positive cases as more cases appear. Currently, S7HD is reporting a cumulative total of 172 cases and 4 deaths since the start of the pandemic. The number of individuals confirmed, to date, within the Southern Seven Counties are as follows:

• Alexander: 7 cases, 6 of 7 recovered, 0 deaths

• Hardin: 1 case, 1 of 1 recovered, 0 deaths

• Johnson: 7 cases, 4 of 7 recovered, 0 deaths

• Massac: 6 cases, 5 of 6 recovered, 0 deaths

• Pope: 1 case, 1 of 1 recovered, 0 deaths

• Pulaski: 38 cases, 18 of 38 recovered, 0 deaths

• Union: 112 cases, 16 of 112 recovered, 4 deaths

Southern Seven Health Department will not release specific information about individuals with COVID-19 beyond their sex and age range, unless ordered by the court.

The number of COVID-19 cases in Illinois has risen dramatically in the past week. According to the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH), in Illinois there were 2,432 new individuals with COVID-19 identified on May 15 bringing the confirmed total in the State to 90,369 individuals, with 4,058 deaths.
