Massac County Sheriff Office issued the following announcement on May 5.

Immediate Opening: Sheriff's Office Telecommunicator / 911 Dispatcher

The Massac County Sheriff's Office is accepting applications for the position of Telecommunicator / 911 Dispatcher

Duties Include, but are not limited to:

• Answering, processing, prioritizing, and dispatching incoming emergency and non-emergency calls for service using a computer-aided dispatching system (CAD).

• Receiving emergency calls, complaints, and inquiries from the public by telephone and in person.

• Relaying information to Law Enforcement, Fire, and EMS agencies via radio

•Operating communication equipment including radio consoles, computer equipment, and 911 telephone system

•Operating Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system

Job requirements :

• High school diploma or G.E.D.

• Telecommunications experience preferred but not required

• Must have valid driver’s license

• Must possess strong attention to detail and have he ability to deal with stressful situations

• Must have strong communication and computer skills

• Must be dependable and have the ability to multi-task

•Must be available to work nights, weekends and holidays.
