City of Metropolis City Council met March 9.

Here is the minutes provided by the council:

The regular meeting of the City Council, City of Metropolis, Illinois was held at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, March 9, 2020 in Council Chambers of City Hall at 106 West 5th Street, Metropolis, Illinois. Upon roll call the following Aldermen were present: Alderman Jeremy Holley, Don Canada, Chad Lewis, John Taylor and Darryl Neill, Al Wagner, Mike Hall, Chuck Short, City Clerk Jan Adams, Mayor William McDaniel, Corporate Counsel Rick Abell and concerned citizens of Metropolis.

Moved by Alderman Mike Hall and second by Alderman Darryl Neill to approve the minutes of the previous meeting held on 2-24-2020 as presented;

MAYOR’S REPORT:

The bid for lease of farm land at the Industrial Park was awarded to Chuck Korte and Dalton Korte of Korte Farms in the amount of $143.00 an acre/$16,023.15 annually. Jordan Reynolds was the other bid received in the amount of $8,965.00 per year.

The Ordinance approving the cash farm lease will be brought back at a later date.

Moved by Alderman Darryl Neill and second by Alderman Don Canada to make a motion to accept Color Fun Run, April 18th, for Project Graduation starting and ending at Washington Park (to include East and West 3rd Street, East 1st and 2nd Streets, as well as West 2nd Street (from 9 am-ish to 11 am-ish);

CORPORATE COUNSEL:

Moved by Alderman Chuck Short and second by Alderman Jeremy Holley to make a motion to purchase real estate located at 508 West 6th Street from the Massac Tax Agent $818.00;

DEPARTMENT HEADS:

Moved by Alderman Chuck Short and second by Alderman Mike Hall to make a motion to Adopt an Ordinance Authorizing the Sale or Other Disposition of Personal Property of the City of Metropolis; 2020-06

Moved by Alderman Mike Hall and second by Alderman Jeremy Holley to approve the Finance Report be received and approved and that the orders be drawn on the Treasurer for the different amounts mentioned therein and that the Mayor and the City Clerk be authorized to make necessary arrangements for payment of current Salaries, Payroll and Contract bills;
