City of Metropolis City Council met Feb. 24.

Here is the minutes provided by the council:

The regular meeting of the City Council, City of Metropolis, Illinois was held at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, February 24, 2020 in Council Chambers of City Hall at 106 West 5th Street, Metropolis, Illinois. Upon roll call the following Aldermen were present: Alderman Jeremy Holley, Don Canada, Chad Lewis, John Taylor and

Darryl Neill, Al Wagner, Mike Hall, Chuck Short, City Clerk Jan Adams, and concerned citizens of Metropolis. Mayor William McDaniel and Corporate Counsel Rick Abell were absent.

Moved by Alderman Chuck Short and second by Alderman Al Wagner to elect senior Alderman, Mike Hall, as temporary Chairman in the Mayor’s absence to preside over the City Council meeting pursuant to section 3.1-35-35 (b) of the Illinois Municipal Code;

Moved by Alderman Chad Lewis and second by Alderman Jeremy Holley to approve the minutes of the previous meeting held on 2-10-2020 as presented;

MAYOR’S REPORT:

Moved by Alderman Mike Hall and second by Alderman Darryl Neill to make a motion to accept advertising and accepting applications for Temporary Seasonal Public Works Labors from March 5th, 2020 through March 20th, 2020 (deadline);

NEW BUSINESS:

Moved by Alderman Chuck Short and second by Alderman John Taylor to make a motion to Adopt a Resolution for permission to install water main under U.S. 45; 2020-01

FINANCIAL REPORT:

Moved by Alderman Chad Lewis and second by Alderman Darryl Neill to approve the Finance Report be received and approved and that the orders be drawn on the Treasurer for the different amounts mentioned therein and that the Mayor and the City Clerk be authorized to make necessary arrangements for payment of current Salaries, Payroll and Contract bills;
