Metropolis Police Department issued the following announcement on March 24.

From the Office of the Director of Public Safety: Arrest Summary, March 15-21, 2020;

March 15, 2020

Metropolis Police were called to a domestic disturbance at a residence in the 1100 block of Butler. The investigation led to the arrest of Shelitha A. Deberry,33, Metropolis. Deberry was charged with Domestic Battery and Interference with the report of a domestic. Deberry had taken the victim’s cell phone and told the 911 operator that they dialed the wrong number. Deberry was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center. Sasha G Doyle,32, Metropolis was also charged with Domestic Battery and lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

Emily Forthman,32, Metropolis, was arrested for Retail Theft. She was captured on video taking items from the store without paying for them. Forthman was taken to the Metropolis Police Dept for processing. She was released on bond.

March 16, 2020

Metropolis Police initiated a theft report. The victim stated that her cell phone was stolen by Cain D. Wilkins, 18, Metropolis from a residence in the 1800 block of Gibbons. On March 20th, a Metropolis Officer located Wilkins who stated he took the phone by accident and then sold it. Wilkins was charged with the theft. Wilkins was also wanted on a warrant. The warrant was issued by Massac County for Battery. Wilkins was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

Metropolis Police were notified that a theft had occurred at Silver Collections on E. 5th St and the thief was being confronted by employees. The thief had already fled prior to the arrival of the police; however, a description was given, and a search entailed. Officers located the thief, Andrea L. Massey,32, Paducah, KY a few blocks away. She was identified by employees. Massey was charged with Retail Theft and taken to the Metropolis Police Dept for processing. She was released on bond.

March 18, 2020

Metropolis Officers were called to a disturbance at an apartment in the Hummas Apartment building. Upon arrival, Officers met with the caller who stated that Allen R. Baker,57, Metropolis did not live there and refused to leave. Baker was uncooperative and argued with the caller as well as the police. After being told numerous times to leave, Baker was arrested for criminal Trespass to Property. Baker was transported to the Metropolis Police dept for processing and released on bond.

March 19, 2020

A Metropolis Officer stopped a blue Ford SUV on US 45 & Massac Creek bridge. The registration showed expired October of 2018, but the computer check showed that they were cancelled. A computer check on the driver, Angela L. Rose,41, Paducah, KY revealed that here driver’s license was suspended. She also had no proof of insurance. Rose was arrested and charged with driving while registration cancelled, driving while license suspended and operation of an uninsured motor vehicle. She was taken to the Metropolis Police Dept for processing and released on bond. The passenger, Adam John Rose,43, Symsonia, KY was wanted on a warrant. The warrant was issued by KY Dept of Corrections for a parole violation. He was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

Metropolis Officers were called to a domestic disturbance at a residence in the 700 block of E. 8th St. The offender had left prior to our arrival. Officers observed injuries on the victim. A Metropolis Sergeant located the offender on US 45 at the ramp to I-24. Jonathon R. Rideout, 41, Metropolis was arrested and charged with domestic Battery. He was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

A Metropolis Officer stopped a white Ford pick-up truck on US 45 near Devers Rd. A computer check revealed that the driver, Stanley R Shinn, 47, Cypress, IL had a suspended driver’s license. Shinn also could not show proof of insurance. Shinn was placed under arrest. A search revealed a clear glass smoking pipe used for Meth. Shinn was charged with driving while license suspended, operation of an uninsured motor vehicle and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was taken to the Metropolis Police Dept for processing and released on bond. The passenger, Shane M. vinson,46, Cypress was found to be holding an open can of beer. He was charged with illegal transportation of open alcohol and released.

The preceding information pertains to arrests made by the Metropolis Police Department. These arrests are made on the basis of probable cause and all arrestees are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
