Metropolis Police Department issued the following announcement on Jan. 28.

From the Office of the Director of Public Safety: Arrest Summary, January 19-25, 2020;

January 19, 2020

Michael R. Engelhart,49, Metropolis was arrested in the Spence Apartments common area. Englehart was wanted on a warrant. The warrant was issued by Massac County for Domestic Battery. He was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

January 23, 2020

Joe J Taylor,27, Paducah, KY was observed riding a bicycle on US 45 near Mary’s Ln. A Metropolis Officer was aware that he was wanted on a warrant. The warrant was issued by Massac County for possession of Meth. Taylor was arrested and lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

January 24, 2020

Metropolis Officers were called to Citgo on E. 5th St. The manager advised that a subject stole merchandise on the 23rd and is now back in the store. Metropolis Officers responded and located Kyle B. Hurst,34, Metropolis inside the store. Officers viewed video which showed Hurst putting the merchandise in his pocket and leaving the store without paying for it. Hurst was arrested and charged with retail theft. Hurst was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

January 25, 2020

Metropolis Officers were called to a domestic disturbance at a residence in the 1800 block of Neville. Upon arrival, officers spoke with the victim and saw obvious signs of injury. She stated she was punched in the mouth and shoved by the offender. James R. Beasley,54, Metropolis was arrested for Domestic Battery. Beasley was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

The preceding information pertains to arrests made by the Metropolis Police Department. These arrests are made on the basis of probable cause and all arrestees are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
