Vienna High School District 133 Board of Education met Tuesday, Aug. 13.

Here is the minutes provided by the board:

The Regular Meeting of the Vienna Public School District No. 55 Board of Education was called to order by Mrs. Sherie Smith, President, at 6:13 p.m., with the following members present:

S. Smith, President S. Borders, Vice President K. Johnson, Secretary L. Hook T. Betts

Members absent: D. Clayton, T. Betts.

Others present: G. Frehner, Kendall King, J. Williams, A. Eldridge, H. Holloman, S. Robinson.

Consent Agenda

Motion by Hook seconded by Borders to approve the consent agenda as presented. Roll call. Voting yes: Borders, Hook, Smith, Betts, Johnson. Voting no: none. Motion carried.

Comments from Employees and Public

The teachers reported they are happy to have the opportunity for the prayer walk at the school. The meet and greet was a great success.

Business of the Administration

Closed Session

Motion by Betts seconded by Hook to go in

to closed session at 7:56 p.m. to discuss

(1) the appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of employees of the District or legal counsel for the District including hearing testimony on a complaint lodged against an employee of the District or against legal counsel of the District, to determine its validity. Roll Call. Voting yes: Borders, Hook, Smith, Betts, Johnson. Voting no: none. Motion carried.

Motion by Betts seconded by Johnson to come out of closed session and return to regular open session at 10:34 p.m. Roll call. Voting yes: Borders, Hook, Smith, Betts, Johnson. Voting no: none. Motion carried.

Approve Job Descriptions

Motion by Borders seconded by Hook to approve all certified staff job descriptions for the 2019-20 school year as presented. Roll call. Voting yes: Borders, Hook, Smith, Betts, Johnson. Voting no: none. Motion carried.

Approve Risk Management Plan

Motion by Hook seconded by Borders to approve the Risk Management Plan for the 2019-20 school year. Roll call. Voting yes: Borders, Hook, Smith, Betts, Johnson. Voting no: none. Motion carried.

Approve Transport List

Motion by Johnson seconded by Betts to authorize the 2019-20 transport list as presented. Roll call. Voting yes: Borders, Hook, Smith, Betts, Johnson.

Authorize Agreement

Motion by Borders seconded by Hook to authorize an agreement authorizing Kings Financial Consulting Inc. to serve as financial advisor on behalf of Vienna

Motion by Betts seconded by Johnson to employ Michael McHugh as full time night shift custodian. Roll call. Voting yes: Borders, Hook, Smith, Betts, Johnson. Voting no: none. Motion carried.

Limitation of Administrative Costs

Motion by Hook seconded by Borders to make a motion stating be it resolved that the Board of Education of Vienna Public School District #55 waives the limitation on administrative costs for FY2019 as authorized by Section 17-1.5 of the School Code and the superintendent is directed to notify the State Board of Education within 45 days of the date of the action. Roll call. Voting yes: Borders, Hook, Smith, Betts, Johnson. Voting no: none. Motion carried.

PRESS Policies

Mr. Frehner presented PRESS policies for review and approval at the September board meeting.

Budget Hearing

Motion by Johnson seconded by Betts to set the budget hearing for Monday, September 9 at 5:30 p.m. Roll call. Voting yes: Borders, Hook, Smith, Betts, Johnson. Voting no: none. Motion carried.

Other

Motion by Hook seconded by Borders to employ Ben McGill as an as-needed individual aide. Roll call. Voting yes: Borders, Hook, Smith, Betts, Johnson. Voting no: none. Motion carried.

Adjourn

Motion by Betts seconded by Johnson to adjourn at 10:45 p.m. All voted yea. Motion carried.
