Metropolis Police Department issued the following announcement on Oct. 16.

From the Office of the Director of Public Safety: Arrest summary, October 6-12, 2019;

October 7, 2019

A Metropolis Detective Sergeant set up a surveillance in the 1300 block of Catherine. The Sergeant was looking for a subject wanted on a warrant. The Sergeant observed the suspect, James G Beeson,38, as he approached a residence. Beeson was wanted on a Parole violation warrant issued by the State of California. Beeson was arrested without incident. He was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center pending extradition back to California.

A Metropolis Officer stopped a Silver Chevrolet Blazer after it improperly backed out of a parking space in front of the Humma apartments on Third St. the Blazer almost struck the squad car. The Driver, later identified as Jeremy lee Lynch.,38, Metropolis stated he did not see the car. The Blazer was occupied by 2 other passengers. Lynch who initially gave a false name and the passengers were told to stay in the vehicle. As the officer was making a computer check they all fled the vehicle. A foot chase ensued and Lynch and one of the passengers were taken into custody. Lynch then complained of chest pains and an ambulance was dispatched. Due to prior cardiac conditions he was transported to a KY hospital. A search of the vehicle revealed Meth, shotgun ammunition and drug paraphernalia. The Meth and paraphernalia were located in the female passenger’s property. The female was identified as Ashley N. Dunn,27, Pinckneyville, IL. Dunn was charged with Resisting/Obstructing a Peace Officer, Possession of Methamphetamine, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Dunn was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

Lynch was issued traffic citations for Improper Backing, Expired IL Registration, Obstructed Back Windshield, No Driver’s License on Person, Operating Uninsured Vehicle, Driving While License Suspended/Revoked. Warrants will be sought for Possession of Ammunition by a Felon, Possession of Ammunition - No FOID Card, Resisting/Obstructing a Peace Officer, and Obstructing Justice - Furnishing False Information due to him being taken out of state for treatment.

October 8, 2019

A Metropolis Sergeant observed a person he recognized as Elizabeth A Leach,37, Metropolis walking across the parking lot of the SuperBowl bowling Alley. The Sergeant was aware that she was wanted on warrants. The warrants were issued by Massac County for two counts of Unlawful Delivery of Meth. Leach was arrested and lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

October 10, 2019

A Metropolis Detective Sergeant observed Xavier M. Smith, 35, Metropolis in the 1700 block of Filmore. Smith was wanted on a warrant. The warrant was issued by Cook County, IL for Probation Violation. Smith was arrested and lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

October 11, 2019

A Metropolis Officer stopped a Jeep on North Ave and 12th St. The Jeep had an expired Registration Sticker (June 2019). The driver, James L. Littlemeyer,36, Paducah, Ky could not provide proof of insurance. A computer check revealed that there was an active order of protection. The protected party was inside the vehicle. Littlemeyer was arrested and charged with Violation of an order of protection, expired registration sticker and operation of an uninsured motor vehicle. Littlemeyer was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

The preceding information pertains to arrests made by the Metropolis Police Department. These arrests are made on the basis of probable cause and all arrestees are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
