Pope County Community Unit School District 1 Board of Education met Aug. 29.
Here is the minutes provided by the board:
Meeting was called to order by President Hansen at 7:00 pm and the following members were present: Walker, Aly, Schuchardt, Wallace, and Hansen.
Simmons and Hogg were absent.
A motion to approve the agenda was made by Wallace and seconded by Aly. Roll call vote: all ayes.
A motion was made by Shuchardt and seconded by Walker to enter executive session for the purpose of personnel employment. Roll call vote: all ayes. Board entered closed session at 7:01 pm.
Member Simmons entered executive session at 7:21 pm.
A motion was made by Wallace and seconded by Schuchardt to return to regular session. Roll call vote: all ayes. Board returned at 7:30 pm.
A motion was made by Wallace and seconded by Aly to hire Michelle Reeves for Jr. High Special Education teacher. Roll call vote: all ayes.
A motion to hire Kevin Graham as school van driver was made by Wallace and seconded by Aly. Roll call vote: all ayes.
A motion was made by Aly and seconded by Wallace to approve the 2019-2020 SY teaching contract with Ms. Debbie Chambers. Roll call vote: all ayes.
A motion was made by Walker and seconded by Schuchardt to accept the resignation of bus driver Danny Joiner. Roll call vote: all ayes.
A motion was made by Simmons and seconded by Schuchardt to post for bus driver. Roll call vote: all ayes.
A motion to authorize Mr. Climer and Mr. Fritch to purchase a van with the stipulation of the price being $24,000 or under was made by Simmons and seconded by Walker. Roll call vote: all ayes.
There was no discussion regarding the SRO.
A motion was made by Schuchardt and seconded by Wallace to adjourn the meeting until the next regular meeting to be held on Thursday, September 19, 2019 at 7:00 pm in the J.H. Hobbs Memorial Library with a Public Hearing on the FY 2019-2020 budget at 6:45 pm. Roll call vote: all ayes. Meeting adjourned at 7:33 pm.
