City of Vienna Park City Council met Aug. 7.

The City Council of the City of Vienna met in regular session, Wednesday, August 7, 2019 at Vienna City Hall with the following members and guest:

ELECTED/APPOINTED OFFICIALS PRESENT:

Jon Simmons, Mayor

Alan Racey, Alderman

Melissa Hill, Alderman

Debbie Riddle, Alderman

Richard Owen, Alderman

Austin Tuey, Alderman

Steve Penrod, Alderman

Aleatha Wright, City Clerk

Jim Miller, Police Chief

Shane Racey, Supt

Michelle Meyers, Treasurer

Phil Morris, Depot

Brent Williams, Fire Chief

There being a quorum, Mayor Simmons called the meeting of the Vienna City Council to order at 6:30 p.m.

NEW BUSINESS

Alderman Riddle made a motion to Approve the Omnibus Consent Agenda consisting of the July 17, 2019 Council Meeting Minutes, Treasurer's Report and the Warrant ($41,693.67). Alderman Hill seconded the motion. All in favor, motion carried.

Mayors Simmons announced the appointment of Barbara Studley to the City Library Board.

Clerk Wright reviewed the Motor Fuel Tax Compliance Audit (January 2017- December 2018) that was recently performed with council.

Alderman Racey made a motion to Authorize and Approve the purchase of a flush hydrant and accessories $586.75 from Midwest Meter Inc. Supt Racey noted the hydrant would be placed at

Hensley Hills. The motion was seconded by Alderman Tuey. All in favor, motion carried.

CITY ELECTED AND APPOINTED OFFICIALS

Mayor Simmons mentioned the Junque Jamboree to take place Saturday, September 21 on the city square. Clerk Wright said final documents had been requested for a residential demolition grant.

Chief Miller addressed a complaint of a single wide trailer that had been placed behind a home on North 11th Street without a special permit from the city zoning board. Council members directed Miller to contact owner to remove the trailer from the property. Clerk noted that per city zoning ordinance two dwellings could not be located on one parcel. Clerk was directed to send an ordinance violation letter to owner if action was not taken per Chief Miller's request. Discussion continued between council.

Phil Morris announced Smoky Bear's 75th Birthday event hosted by the U.S. Forest Service to take place in the city park on Friday, August 9th.

Alderman Hill briefly discussed the Annual Heritage Festival hosted by the Elks Lodge. Hill said the dates for the event were October 3-5, with the parade taking place on Saturday, October 5th. Clerk noted she would need the policy from the Elks as part of the paperwork to apply for a permit through IDOT.

As there was no further business to discus, Alderman Owen made a motion to adjourn the meeting. The motion was seconded by Alderman Tuey. Motion Carried.

Mayor Simmons declared the meeting adjourned at 7:22 p.m.
