City of Vienna Park City Council met Aug. 21.

The City Council of the City of Vienna met in regular session, Wednesday, August 21, 2019 at Vienna City Hall with the following members and guest:

There being a quorum, Mayor Simmons called the meeting of the Vienna City Council to order at 6:30 p.m.
NEW BUSINESS
Alderman Tuey made a motion to Approve the Omnibus Consent Agenda consisting of the August 7, 2019 Council Meeting Minutes, Treasurer's Report and the Warrant ($25,679.13). Alderman Riddle seconded the motion. All in favor, motion carried.
Supt. Racey updated council on oil and chip to be performed end of August. Racey also mentioned that the county would be auctioning off equipment the city may be interested in.
Rebecca Robinson, Census Bureau Partnership Specialist was present to discuss the 2020 census with city officials. Robinson encouraged the city to get involved in forming a complete count committee and hosting training events for the census. Robinson said she would follow up.
Alderman Owen made a motion to Authorize and Approve the city to place a 1/8 ad ($100.00) for sponsorship in the Southern Seven 40th Anniversary Informational Guide. Alderman Tuey seconded the motion. All in favor, motion carried
Alderman Tuey made a motion to Authorize and Approve to purchase three 60 gallon containment skids per EPA requirement for the water plant. $716.09, Global Industries. Alderman Riddle seconded the motion.
PUBLIC COMMENT
Eric Marten was present to speak with council of a zoning violation letter he received due to complaint of a singlewide trailer placed on his property. Chief Miller said after inspection of the trailer it was a much older model of a recreational vehicle (RV) and was not considered a singlewide. Council questioned Martens plans with the trailer and continued discussion was had on complaints received to the location of the RV on the property. Marten was directed to bring proof of title within 30 days to council.
CITY ELECTED AND APPOINTED OFFICIALS
Mayor Simmons mentioned the Junque Jamboree to take place Saturday, September 21 on the city square.
Clerk Wright discussed with council, per resident's request, the number of Class A liquor licenses the city issues. Discussion was had of raising the limit on said licenses. No action taken at this time.
Chief Miller announced Officer Tricia Thomson would be completing the academy Thursday, August 22. Miller also mentioned a recent resume turned in for a full time officer position.
Miller updated council on yards in violation of the city weed ordinance.
Alderman Penrod requested update on the IHDA demolition grant.
Alderman Hill informed council per Max Hook that fencing on Field #1 at the city ball park needed to be replaced. The purchase would be placed on the next agenda for discussion/action.
At 7:33 p.m. Alderman Tuey made a motion to go out of regular session into Executive Session SILCS 120/2(C)(1), Employment. The motion was seconded by Alderman Owen.
At 8:32 p.m. Alderman Owen made a motion to resume the regular meeting. Motion was seconded by Alderman Riddle. Motion carried.
As there was no further business to discus, Alderman Tuey made a motion to adjourn the meeting. The motion was seconded by Alderman Racey. Motion Carried.
Mayor Simmons declared the meeting adjourned at 8:32 p.m.
