Metropolis Police Department issued the following announcement on Sept. 30.

September 22, 2019
Metropolis Officers were called to a residence in the 200 block of E.5th St. Upon arrival Officers made contact with Kenneth H. Nash,69, Metropolis. A computer check revealed that Nash had an order of protection, prohibiting him to have contact with the victim. Nash was arrested for violation of an order of protection and lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.
September 24, 2019
Sonja L. Sledd, 37, Metropolis was arrested for Criminal Trespass to Property. Sledd had been warned numerous times to stay away from a residence in the 1100 block of metropolis St. Sledd was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.
A Metropolis Sergeant stopped a red Ford Focus on US 45 & Massac Creek Bridge for speeding (68 in a posted 45 Zone). A computer check revealed that the license plates were suspended. A check on the driver, Nathan H. Sloane,20, Middleburgh Hts, OH, revealed that his driver’s license was suspended. Sloane was arrested and charged with speeding, driving while license suspended and driving a motor vehicle with suspended registration. Sloane was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

Steven C. Tinsley, 62, Metropolis was arrested in the 200 block of Girard. Tinsley was wanted on a warrant. The warrant was issued by Pope County, IL for failure to appear-felony Larceny. Tinsley was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.
September 26, 2019
A Metropolis Officer stopped a red Kia Sportage on the Frontage Rd at US 45 and Devers. The officer observed that the female driver was talking on a cell phone without a hands-free device. A computer check on the driver, Teresa A Dove,57, Metropolis revealed that her driver’s license was suspended. She was arrested and charged with driving while license suspended and violation of electronic communications device. Dove was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.
A Metropolis Officer stopped a red Hyundai for a defective taillight on 12th St and Pullen. A computer check on the driver, Jennifer D Darnell, 38, Paducah, KY revealed that her driver’s license was suspended. Darnell was arrested and taken to the Metropolis Police Dept for processing. She was able to post bond and was released.
The preceding information pertains to arrests made by the Metropolis Police Department. These arrests are made on the basis of probable cause and all arrestees are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
